Dr. Alison Krentel together with colleagues from Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International, University of Washington, World Health Organization, CORUS International, and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, published a scoping literature review to understand the use of qualitative research methods in NTD programs and other public health programmes. Several qualitative methods were recommended based on the literature reviews. The results of this study also informed the development of the "Guide to Improving MDA Using Qualitative Methods", which is an off the shelf how-to guide on using rapid qualitative methods to enhance effectiveness and equity of mass drug administration for NTD programs.
