The Threads Lab at the Bruyère Research Institute is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate/Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team. This role will play a crucial role in advancing our global health research initiatives, focusing on community-based research exploring the efficacy of moxidectin versus ivermectin mass drug administration for combating onchocerciasis in two Sub-Saharan African sites (Ghana and Angola). The successful candidate will bring expertise in statistical analysis, mixed methods research, and implementation science. This position requires proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, R, or other quantitative analysis tools, along with a solid understanding of data management systems.
Main duties and responsibilities
Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the research projects with general supervision
Conducting advanced statistical analyses using various techniques, including but not limited to regression analysis, univariate and multivariate analysis.
Performing qualitative data analysis using appropriate methodologies (thematic analysis, content analysis, etc.)
Establishing and managing data management systems in collaboration with external teams
Conducting literature reviews for feasibility and acceptability studies related to neglected tropical disease mass drug administration campaigns, performing accessibility analysis, and publishing articles to advance research in this field
Assisting in programmatic planning, execution, and monitoring, including schedules, progress, coordination, deliverables, milestones, and contracts
Contributing to knowledge transfer initiatives
Collaborating with investigators and teams to ensure timely submission of reports, publications, presentations and grants
Coordinating logistics for research projects, including facilitating meetings, establishing project schedules, and allocating resources
Providing leadership, supervision and support to staff and students as required
Additional duties may be added as projects progress
Required Qualifications
PhD in epidemiology, public health, population health, global health, health services research, or related field
Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods, with proven experience in statistical analysis, mixed methods research, and implementation science
Expertise in statistical software tools such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, or R
Experience with qualitative software (NVivo), citation software, and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Strong search skills in different electronic databases (PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, EMBASE, EBSCO, Scopus) and grey literature sources
Experience in manuscript preparation and submission for peer-reviewed journals
Knowledge of ODK and REDCap is desirable
Fluency in Portuguese and French, an asset
